Choosing the right game can really enhance your odds of winning the lottery

As a lottery player of online lotteries worldwide, I am all too familiar with the odds of winning the lottery. To put it very simply, your chances of winning any major lotto game are incredibly slim. This lottery odds comparison table lists 31 of the world’s leading lottery games and their respective jackpots winning odds.

This ought to give you a sense of just how bad your jackpot winning odds really are.

I believe that the large majority of the millions of people who play lotteries are fully aware of just how poor their winning chances really are. It is just that miniscule chance of hitting the big one that keeps people coming back week after week.

When looking at peoples’ lottery playing habits, I always find it staggering just how much lottery players are affected by big jackpot offerings. It is incredible how many more people play the lottery during a rollover week as apposed to a standard jackpot week. Not only do more people participate during rollover draws but individual spend increases on average also. It is as if people are saying that £10 million is OK but £20 million is worth so much more effort. Human greed is a funny yet strange thing!

On the subject of huge jackpots, the USA Powerball, USA Mega Millions and the European lottery, Euro Millions, are consistently 3 of the biggest jackpot games in the world. Why do the jackpots get so big? The jackpots get so big because there are often multiple rollovers. Why are there so many rollovers in these 3 games? Simple, the odds are some of the worst you will find in any global lottery game:

Euro Millions – 1 in 116,531,800
USA Powerball – 1 in 175,223,510
USA Mega Millions – 1 in 175,711,535

The odds of winning the lottery in either of these games certainly do not put off millions of people playing every week. The incredible jackpots are simply too much of a draw for the lottery playing community. In fact, 2012 saw the two biggest jackpots in lottery history – $640 million in the Mega Millions and $587.5 million in the Powerball.

How much money do you really need to change your life forever? £1 million, £2 million or £5 million perhaps? I think that this sort of sum would set most people up for life. If this is the case, what is the point of playing in these massive jackpot games that offer some of the poorest odds on the planet? Simply, choose a game that offers better odds. For example, if you play the the UK49s lotto game or Belgium Lotto with odds of 1 in 5,245,786 instead of the USA Mega Millions with odds of 1 in 175,711,535, you will have a 33 times better chance of winning the jackpot. Doesn’t playing lotteries with better odds just make perfect sense!

Do not get suckered into playing lotteries with ridiculous jackpots and horrendous odds; instead focus on the games that offer better jackpot winning chances and you will greatly enhance your odds of winning the lottery.

Below is a very interesting link that open a graphic displaying a list of everyday events that are more likely to happen than you winning the lottery. It is well worth seeing as it will definitely put your whole lottery playing experience in perspective:
