Storage seems to be an issue with a lot of businesses. If you are struggling with storage needs on a short term basis, there are a few affordable options that you will want to consider. Before you consider any storage solution, you will need to look at a few factors. This includes determining how much you want to store, what you need to store and for how long you will need the storage solution.

Take a Close Look at Your Storage Needs

The good news is that you’re not alone with your storage needs. You will be able to find a variety of storage solutions regardless of where you live because there are more options than ever before. Companies are realizing that there is a need to provide short term storage solutions to various businesses.

The more selection you have, the easier it will be to get an affordable rate for the time you will need to store your items. Competition is a great thing because it helps to drive the costs down. You may need to do some comparison shopping, but it will pay off in the end for you.

You will need to figure out a few things before you start looking at storage options. Consider some of the following:

- Are you storing refrigerated or dry items?

- Will the storage need to be on premises?

- How long will you need the storage?

- How many square feet of space do you need?

Once you answer these four questions, you will be better prepared to get the affordable storage that you are in search of. If you can’t answer one of these questions, you will need to find out the answer before calling different companies because they will need to know in order to better serve you.

Refrigerated Storage Options

Depending on your industry, you may need a short-term storage solution for your refrigerated or frozen items. This could be due to an upcoming large scale event, a piece of equipment going down or you decided to take advantage of a sale that you couldn’t pass up. Regardless of why you need the extra storage, you will have a few different options available to you.

First, try calling your local food service provider. Even if you don’t have an account with them, they may be willing to rent you one of their refrigerated trucks. This will allow you to park it wherever you want. The downside is that it runs on gas, which means you need to make sure it’s gassed up at all times. You may also need a special driver’s license to drive the larger truck.

Second, call around to some of the local storage units. Many of the ones that cater to commercial facilities will have refrigerated options for you to take advantage of. You can choose refrigerator or freezer unit. The longer you need it for, the better deal you can work out.

Depending on your relations with local businesses, you may also be able to ask a hotel or larger restaurant for some temporary assistance.

Dry Storage Options

Dry storage options are a little easier. This is because you don’t actually need any kind of power to keep things running. Even if nothing is perishable, however, you may want a climate controlled facility, particularly if you have products that will melt or warp in high heat.

Various pod systems are all the rage. These can be delivered to your home or business and kept on property or brought to the company’s facility. They can then be delivered back to your property when you are ready to deal with the contents. This is one of the best on-site affordable options for extra storage needs.

Another solution is to visit a local storage facility. You will be able to choose from a variety of sized units, which can ensure you’re not paying for more space than you need. You also don’t have to worry about taking up space in your parking lot or loading dock.

Extra storage options are plentiful. Based on what you need, you need to find the most affordable option to ensure you’re not paying more than what is absolutely necessary.
